See AllAlejandro Penthouse As you wind up a fern-covered Grecian Stairway, a caressing sea breeze brushes across your face. Nestled snugly amongst the treetops in an exotic dwelling, experience a vista of the bay and Gringo Gulch, a lasting image within your heart for all time, this room is known as the Blue Room to wayfarers. High above the spacious grey-lined stairwell is a pastel fresco in bas-relief’ carved in stone. A brilliant technique utilized by artisans since time began…etched here is a handsome bustier of the master and owner of the villa, Alexander. A tribute from his painter Miriam brilliantly depicts him as a composer who orchestrated master craftsmen to keep his grandmother’s legendary home alive for eternity. In Mexico, for a lad just out of college, this can be a taxing, almost insurmountable task, yet you will see he has achieved his desire like a Prince with a dexterous finesse and grace. This was Alexander’s room. Secure, antiquated double wooden doors open into a celestial sitting room with a sumptuous purple divan and a fold out royal purple velvet couch that easily sleeps a cozy couple. The penthouse provides the most spacious closet and a full kitchen. Alejandro is especially appealing to those who appreciate a unique ambiance, with sturdy wooden shutters that frame a whimsical view of the sea. Formerly the home of Candelaria, the daughter of “Silver”, Candee’s heroine was Maria Felix, both actresses by trade and avid lovers of gems. At a recent San Francisco Cartier exhibit, one could see the emerald alligator necklace Maria Felix had the craftsman copy of her two pet alligators, and which she wore until her recent demise. Candelaria always introduces herself to local taxis as "Maria Felix sin trensas"...without braids! Gorgeous paintings tower on the walls…the most cherished, one of the lady of the house, was painted by the late world-renowned Sheila Devine. Two expansive Botero paintings loom beguilingly over a 15th Century iron bed... the very one used in the film Harvest's love scenes with actor Mario Van Peebles and Christopher Lambert. Steve Mcqueen's son, Chad, could also be seen on his shoot hovering by one foot out of a helicopter over Playa Conchas Chinas, as "Silver" was being featured by her neighbor Alan Carr as a ravishing lady of the night... Another of her favorite treasures, a blue piano, can be seen in the move "Revenge", with Kevin Costner and Anthony Quinn. An ample library of leather bound French Classics, from Cervantes to Marat Sade, govern heavy leaded glass shelves and surely make this room great for writers, computers, or contemplation. Gorgeous pinewood French shutters make privacy a priority, and both the Green Room and Scarlet have access to the full Kitchenette and dining room below. Known as Mariposa, or the Monks Room, this is the spare room and can be used as a delicate cloister for the bachelor or bachelorette. The gorgeous Brahma bull oil is by painter Bill McGrail, painted lovingly for Candelaria on her birthday. McGrail, a Buddhist, jumped from his old red truck and painted the Brahman in Tuito in the moonlight! This room has the most spectacular tiled floor of Mosaics, and is perfect for the traveler on a budget! Alexander has totally refurbished this room with mirrored walls over a working gas fireplace with an oblong crystalline chandelier making the entire abode an infinitesimal kismet of color! The bathroom's mosaic sink, the blue sunken tub, and shower are sheer glamour for the late night lovers. The transcendental wedge wood painted celestial color and mirrored shelves give an angelic repose... yet, the room has a definite masculine ambiance to it, most conducive to a writer or artist who treasures his space and solitude.
